Letter from Haley

Hi everyone,

         I want to take the opportunity  to thank everyone for your continued support for me and our foundation. Since my liver transplant in Aug 2007, my life has changed dramatically.

         The new liver now processes the protein for my body. I can eat whatever I want now and most importantly, I no longer have to drink the horrible tasting formula I used to need to live.

         In Aug 2008, I returned to Pittsburgh for my one year check up. It was great to see the doctors who gave me my new life again, at least it was once I figured out they were not going to do anything else to me. They were very pleased with the results of the transplant. They even say that in the future it might be possible to reduce the amount of medication I am taking from twice a day to maybe a few times a week...yeah!

         My foundation is still supporting MSUD research and the metabolic community in Arizona as well as nationwide. We are now reaching out to the transplant community to help other children with MSUD to afford this wonderful gift if they feel that it is the right decision for them.
